your dad is right, used cars are going to take more maintenance. But while a new car is covered by warrantee, it also comes with a payment. Frankly it is a no-win situation in my experience... either you pay to fix a used car or you make payments on a new car. If all you are doing is normal wear and tear stuff - like the rack, ball joints, etc - it is probably cheaper to fix than buy new. Depends on how many miles you've got on the Z, general condition, etc as to what you will need to put out for future repairs. Generally, if you have the Z paid off you will be money ahead to keep and repair as needed - but like I said, depends on condition now. As you are aware, the Z is not cheap to work on. I'm not big on Fords, but the new Mustang is sweet! There would be worse replacements for the Z if you go that route.
